At OSF Medical Group - General Surgery (Pontiac), we strive to make your surgical procedure with us as comfortable as possible. We believe the essence of comfort is patient education. With that in mind, please review this section of our website so you will know what to expect as you prepare for your surgery. The links in the box on the right will help you to navigate through the surgical process.
Many of the operations we perform are done on an outpatient basis or with a hospital stay of less than 24 hours. At an appointment prior to your surgery, a pre-operative exam will be performed, including a history of your problem, a list of medications you are currently taking, and any allergies to medicines or reactions to previous procedures. Pre-operative tests, such as blood and urine tests, may or may not be performed depending on your type of procedure.
